Tahoe Oolong Tea - Summer 2025

$25.00
sold out

Soft as silk and luminous as morning light, this tea is a quiet masterpiece from our summer harvest. The first sip arrives with creamy smoothness, like steamed whole milk, unfolding into delicate floral tones — jasmine, gardenia, and wild orchid — that bloom across the palate without a trace of bitterness. As it cools, you might catch hints of stonefruit skin, lilac nectar, and clean alpine air. The finish lingers in a barely-sweet echo — smooth, refreshing, and impossibly crisp.

This oolong takes its name from Lake Tahoe, whose high-elevation serenity and crystalline stillness reflect the tea’s inner character: cool, floral, and effortlessly clear. No roast, no astringency, no overt oxidation — just a flowing, graceful structure that invites you back again and again. It’s a tea to sit with. A tea to listen to. A tea to breathe.

About This Tea

Harvested by hand from our estate-grown Camellia sinensis var. sinensis plants. Each leaf set was composed of 3–4 leaves and a bud, allowed to wither overnight in cool air, then gently tumbled and slowly dried to preserve the elegant floral aromatics and natural creaminess.

No artificial flavoring. No milk scenting. Just California soil, patient timing, and a bit of moonlight.

arvest + Processing

Hand-picked in summer, this flush was composed of larger, mature leaves—3 to 5 leaves per stem—resulting in a more restrained expression with refined aromatics and clarity of flavor.

After a brief outdoor wither, the leaves were gently tumbled in small batches and rested overnight to allow natural oxidation to unfold slowly. They were then pan-fired, lightly rolled, and oven-dried at low temperatures to preserve structure and aroma.

This batch is defined by its balance: minimal bitterness, moderate body, and an ultra-smooth finish.

Product Details:

  • Origin: California

  • Type: Lightly oxidized oolong

  • Caffeine Level: Medium

  • Flavor Notes: Alpine Butter, Gardenia Blossom, Lilac, Cooling Mineral Finish

  • Mouthfeel: Velvety, Clean, Non-astringent

  • Energy: Gentle lift, calming finish

Brewing Recommendations

Use 195°F water and a generous amount of leaf. Steep for 2–3 minutes per infusion.
Re-steep up to 3 times for a soft, creamy floral experience. Since there’s almost no astringency, longer steeps reward with deeper flavors.

For 4th and 5th steeps, raise the temperature to 205°F and extend the steep time. You can expect a flavor shift toward snap peas, strawberry jam, and mascarpone cheese —gentle, lingering, and slightly sweet.
These later steeps are subtle and best enjoyed slowly, with attention.

Use filtered or spring water and a vessel with room for the leaves to unfurl fully.

Size & Yield

Each 1 oz (28g) bag makes approximately 6 to 7 generous servings.
With up to 5 infusions per session, this tea yields about 25 cups—just $1.00 per cup for a rare, estate-grown California oolong.

Flat $5 shipping on all orders – whether you buy one tea or several, shipping stays the same.
